Worship is the recognition that God is God and we are the creatures of God's creation. Like Isaiah in the temple, we are awestruck at the glory of God and of God's grace. Our only respose is worship-praise and adoration of the one true Lord. Worship is the continual recognition of God's sovereignty in our lives. At First United Methodist Church of Topeka, we have three Sunday morning services:
The 8:15 a.m. worship service is an informal, traditional service in Klasse Chapel. Dress is informal, particularly in the summer. Park on the south side of the church and enter through either of the doors. Parking is also available for our members and guests on Sunday morning in the state parking lot across Harrison Street. Child care is provided in our nursery.
The 9:30 worship service in the chapel is a contemporary service led by a Praise Team of First Church members. Again, dress is informal and child care is provided.
The 11:00 worship service is a more formal, traditional service in the Sanctuary. Although many dress a little more formally, everyone is welcome regardless of their attire. Child care is provided. The sanctuary is on the north side of the building; park in the west parking lot and enter through the stained glass doors to the Celebration Room or park on the street or across Harrison Street and enter the nearest door.
From 9:00 to 9:30 and again from 10:30 to 11:00, enjoy coffee fellowship in the Celebration Room (enter through the west stained glass doors.) We serve Equal Exchange (fair trade) coffee, lemonade and doughnuts.
