 First United Methodist Church, Topeka
First Church is a loving community of faith,
centered in Christ, making God's love known. We are a people of God who gather in the center of our capital city giving thanks always for the presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst. We celebrate in worship, grow in study and fellowship and realize our true calling in mission. Just as the first disciples found themselves joyfully alive as they gathered together sharing, praising and learning, we also experience the power of God as we live our life as a family of families, centered in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our congregation has its beginnings in the founding of the city of Topeka. Faithful pioneers raised up a great church at the very moment they were chartering the city that would become the capital of our state. From those pioneer roots, generations of Topekans have been nourished with the waters of life though the ministries and mission of First Church.
Today, we are a people from all walks of life, from every strata of the social realm and of wide curiosity and belief. We praise God for a family of faith that celebrates and give thanks for each individual member and the gifts that God gives us through them. Our family is richly blessed through our diversity.
